• Two main factors affect cyclone efficiency – velocity particle moves towards the wall or collection area of the cyclone where it is theoretically collected – length of time available for collection: Residence Time • Two main metrics describe cyclone performance – Pressure drop – Fractional efficiency curve (FEC)
Cyclone separators are extremely important toward the successful operation of the cat cracker. Their performance impacts several FCC performance factors, including the additional cost of fresh catalyst makeup, extra turnaround maintenance costs, the allowable limits on emission of particulates, and the incremental energy recovery in the WGC, and hot gas expander.
Highlights Effect of cyclone height on efficiency was studied by varying conical section. The maximum-efficiency cyclone height is reduced with reduce of the inlet size. Changing trends of maximum-efficiency height and natural vortex length are similar. “Vortex turning” is a key inherent factor determining the maximum-efficiency height. Effect of inlet on maximum-efficiency height depends ...
Cyclone separators can be installed as single units, or in multiples, known as multi-cyclones. It is also possible to install cyclones in series, or, in parallel. Separators can be installed with a horizontal or vertical orientation. Gas Cyclone Separators. Gas cyclone separators are grouped into two main categories, reverse-flow and axial-flow.

Hello, I have a question with regard to steady and unsteady particle tracking and use of DPM with cyclone separator in ANSYS Fluent. I have read the User Guide carefully and many threads on these topics but am still stuck with my solution and also am having difficulties fully understanding the concepts of parameters involved with unsteady DPM.
Experimental results based on cyclone lengths from 2.65 to 6.15 cyclone diameters showed a marked improvement in cyclone performance with increasing length up to 5.5 cyclone diameters; beyond this length the separation efficiency was dramatically reduced. Experimental data agreed well with the predictions of a range of models and CFD simulations.
cyclone separator by varying its flow temperatures. Finally to study the performance of a cyclone separator with collector and compare to that without collector. Four geometrical factors have significant effects on the cyclone performance viz., the inlet width, the inlet height and the cyclone total height.
The response surface methodology has been performed based on the Muschelknautz method of modeling (MM) to optimize the cyclone geometrical ratios. Four geometrical factors have significant effects on the cyclone performance viz., the vortex finder
29-10-2015· I have a Jet 1100 and have purchased a cyclone separator with 6" port on the bottom. I wish to install a flex hose between it and a trash can. Is there a max length this hose can be. Thanks in
31-10-2018· For the two-stage cyclone separator, the 1st-cyclone can increase the collection efficiency of the large particles, and the 2nd-cyclone can increase the collection efficiency of the small particles. When the air volumetric flow rate is more than 177 m 3 /h, the collection efficiency of the particles above 5.0 μm is 100%.
cyclone separators is managed by two swirling motions of the fluid flow in vertically opposite directions. This is known as ... Vortex finder length, S 450 Cylinder height, h 250 250 250 ... max 𝑎1 , 𝐹2) (4 ...
The gas‐phase flow field in a cyclone separator with a cylindrical body was measured using Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) and characteristics of the natural vortex length were analyzed. The results show that the swirling flow is obviously attenuated along the axial direction downward in the cyclone, and both the tangential velocity and the axial velocity gradually decrease.
